Five steps from finished job to award

Every award is tied to one real project, checked with the homeowner and scored by people who know the trade.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the job. Pick one category, describe the challenge and how your crew solved it, and upload before, during, and after photos. Most contractors finish in about 15 minutes.
  2. We screen your entry. Within 3 business days we check that your photos, license, and insurance are in order. If something is missing, we tell you and give you 14 days to fix it.
  3. We check with the homeowner. We send your customer a short survey: did you do the job, were they satisfied, would they hire you again. It takes them two minutes.
  4. Trade judges score your work. At least two judges with experience in your trade score the entry on their own. They don’t see your company name.
  5. Winners are announced. Award winners get a badge, a public project page, and a marketing kit. Every entrant gets their scores back.

How entries are scored

Each entry is scored out of 100 points. An entry that scores 80 or more earns the Award of Excellence. The highest score in each category and region is named Project of the Year.
